In April Tropic Breeze Founder Jo Plummer visited Grenada, one of our favourite Caribbean islands renowned for it’s beautiful beaches and laid-back charm. Whilst on island, Jo spent some time catching up with the latest news from resorts such as Mount Cinnamon, Spice Island Beach Resort and Calabash Hotel. She also spent some time sailing around Carriacou, and would be more than happy to share her yacht charter recommendations with anyone keen to see a different side to the Caribbean!

Iconic Locations on Grand Anse Beach

Jo’s first stop was Spice Island Beach Resort, where she enjoyed the iconic all inclusive hospitality and award winning service that keeps so many of our clients returning year after year. The resort boasts an unbeatable location on Grand Anse Beach, and we would highly recommend opting for one of the Sea Grape Beach Suites – these single storey suites allow you to walk directly from your terrace onto the golden sand.

Also set on Grand Anse Beach is Mount Cinnamon Beach Resort, located towards the quieter end of the beach. This was the next stop on Jo’s trip. Jo was keen to take a look at the newly refurbished pool area, which has had quite the transformation and is looking very fresh. She also had a rum punch on the beach with the owner of Mount Cinnamon Beach Resort, and heard all about their upcoming villa refurbishment plans.
Spotlight on Calabash Hotel

Jo found the Calabash to be as stunning as ever! We love the homely and spacious suites that are set in a horseshoe overlooking beautiful gardens and the sea beyond. The sheltered beach offers the perfect place to relax with a cocktail, or why not take out a Hobie Cat or paddle board and explore the sheltered bay? There is also a dive centre located right on the beach, for those keen to explore the underwater world of Grenada.

Cuisine at the Calabash is exceptional. During her stay, Jo enjoyed a beautifully presented breakfast and delicious fish tacos for lunch at the Beach Club. The highlight though was a sumptuous dinner on the beach in the evening. The newest dining option from Calabash is Nori, a poolside restaurant offering a innovative menu with Japanese and Peruvian influences. This is very popular though, so be sure to book in advance!
