The island of Jamaica is bustling with colour, culture and diversity offering a wide range of choices from ultimate pampering to breath-taking adventure!
Visitors can enjoy the white sandy beaches and delicious local cuisine but for those looking for variety and adventure to tempt them away from their lounger in the sunshine, your team at Tropic Breeze has selected our top 5 activities in Jamaica.
- Visit Dunn’s River Falls
One of Jamaica’s national treasures, Dunn’s River Falls is one of the most popular attractions on the island. Intrepid visitors can climb up one of the river falls with an experienced guide – 1,000 foot high – before being rewarded with a dip in one of the Fall’s refreshing pools.
- A day at Mystic Mountain
Set in 100 acres of rainforest, visitors can spend the day bobsledging down the mountainside, gliding 700 foot above the forest in the Sky Explorer, visiting the hummingbird sanctuary, trekking the nature trail or taking a zipline above canopy! A must for adventure-seeking travellers.
- A haunting experience at Rose Hall Great House
For a spooky adventure for any brave explorer, a visit to the Rose Hall Great House is a trip not to be forgotten. Once the home of Annie Palmer, her spirit is thought to haunt the house after she murdered three of her husbands and many slave lovers, only to be murdered by one of her slaves herself. There are day and evening tours where guests can hear the tale, explore the old plantation building and its dungeon and soak up the atmosphere … if you dare!
- Get involved with the Sea Turtle Project
The Sea Turtle Project in Ocho Rios is committed to the conservation of the island’s sea turtles, observing their breeding patterns and allowing visitors to help release the latest hatchlings. An independent project run by a retired English head teacher, our sales manager, Julia, enjoyed the experience on her recent trip and was struck by how much she learnt and the outstanding care of the Project team. There is no charge to enjoy this experience but donation envelopes are made available for visitors who wish to support the cause.
- Unwind at the Spa
The spas in Jamaica are some of the finest we have come across in the Caribbean, often using local, natural resources in their products. On her recent trip, Julia enjoyed treatments at GoldenEye’ s spa beside its lagoon, the extensive spa at Half Moon and Jamaica Inn’s cliff perched spa – complete with views of the Caribbean Sea. All highly recommended by your team at Tropic Breeze!
