As a holiday destination, Mauritius ticks so many boxes. Beautiful beaches, luxurious hotels, a year-round tropical climate and crystal clear, turquoise waters are just a few of the things that entice so many visitors to this paradise island.
Getting There
Getting to Mauritius is straightforward, with direct flights several times per week from London with both British Airways and Air Mauritius. Emirates also offer a daily service via Dubai, with good connections from regional airports such as Manchester.
When you arrive in Mauritius you will be met with warm smiles by our local representatives, Mautourco. After welcoming you at their airport counter, they will escort you to your transfer vehicle and it is then a straightforward and comfortable drive to your hotel. Transfer times are usually around an hour, depending on where you are staying.
Where to Stay
Mauritius has an incredible choice of luxury hotels, with each one offering something slightly different. LUX* Grand Gaube for example has excellent facilities for families, whilst SALT of Palmar would be ideal for honeymoon couples looking for somewhere fun and laid back. Discerning travellers will be impressed by the first class service at resorts such as One&Only Le Saint Geran and Shangri-La Le Touessrok, whilst those seeking world-class spa and wellness facilities will love Shanti Maurice.
With so many amazing properties, it can be hard to choose! One of the Tropic Breeze team has personally visited every hotel featured on our website, so for advice on where to stay, contact our travel specialists on 01752 880880. We will be delighted to offer our recommendations.
What to Do
Relaxing on the beach is of course a popular pass time in Mauritius, but the island has so much more to offer! Thanks to a coral reef that surrounds the island, the waters off Mauritius’ beaches are generally calm and ideally suited to watersports. Mauritius is also a popular destination for golfers, with several championship golf courses to choose from, including the stunning Ile aux Cerfs course located on a nearby island.
For first time visitors to Mauritius, we would recommend taking an excursion to the south of the island. The south is home to the Black River Gorges National Park, where visitors can see spectacular waterfalls, as well as get up close to some of the flora and fauna of the rainforest. At the gateway to the national park is the mountain village of Chamarel, where the famous Seven Coloured Earths are located. This geological formation is one of Mauritius’ most popular tourist attractions and well worth a visit. To round off your day, take a tour of Rhumerie de Chamarel, a working rum distillery, where you can learn all about the rum making process and taste some delicious samples!
